Georgia Names Project

In 2020-2021​, I served as the Lead Historian for the University System of Georgia Naming Advisory Group. This group researched the namesakes of the approximately 700 individuals honored by having buildings, institutes, and colleges named for them systemwide. 

Consultant and Freelance Writing 

I have also worked behind-the-scenes for various public and private institutions and organizations. This includes assisting with the historical research for Who Do You Think You Are and putting together "The Civil War" at Teaching Florida (on-line resource for the Florida Humanities Council). Conceptual and Copy Editing

In addition to publishing volumes and essays as an editor and writer, I have spent the last decade working with other authors to get several dozen book and article manuscripts ready for publication.  



Public Talks​

I am available for public talks on issues related to the history of the American Civil War and American Women. I have lectured and delivered public talks around the country, including talks at at Gettysburg National Military Park, Little Rock Old State House Museum, Filson Historical Society, Auburn University, and the Huntington Library. I have also presented my work and led discussions at local libraries, secondary schools, and other organizations. I recently participated at the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College.

Interviews for Documentaries

Most recently, I have been an on-air "talking head"  for "America: Facts vs. Fiction" on the American Heroes Channel. Episodes include: (Civil War, Women and Espionage; Roads to Freedom, and more).
